How does the VHEDC support new businesses in Van Horn?
The VHEDC assists new businesses by offering a range of services, including guidance on local regulations, access to grants and incentives, and connections to resources that can help with business planning, site selection, and marketing. We are dedicated to ensuring that new businesses have the support they need to establish themselves and grow within the Van Horn community.
What types of businesses are eligible for VHEDC grants and incentives?
The VHEDC offers grants and incentives to a wide range of businesses, from small local shops to larger enterprises. To qualify, businesses must be located within the Van Horn city limits and meet specific criteria outlined in each program, such as the Facade and Lot Improvement Program (FLIP). Eligibility requirements may include being current on local property taxes, having fewer than 20 employees, and complying with all local codes and regulations.
How can I apply for the Facade and Lot Improvement Program (FLIP)?
To apply for the FLIP program, you need to submit an application along with required documentation, such as two quotes for the proposed work and proof that your business is current on taxes and other obligations. The application process is straightforward and can be started by visiting our website and filling out the online form. Be sure to apply before the December 31, 2024, deadline to be considered.
When and where does the VHEDC Board meet, and can I attend?
The VHEDC Board meets on the first and last Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM CT in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 1801 W Broadway St, Van Horn, TX. These meetings are open to the public, and we encourage community members to attend. If you would like to be placed on the agenda or request to speak at a meeting, you can submit the necessary forms available on our website.
